Have you ever eaten at a restaurant or eatery of any type and said to yourself and/or friends, “that was good, I’d eat there again”. One of the pleasures that we have in American is the joy of eating a variety of foods that we like. We have a choice of thousands of restaurant, with endless array of choices. Many of these restaurants are run by independent owners, (Mom & Pop’s) making their living trying to please you and me. When my wife and I travel we look for the Mom & Pop’s, to give them the business, to see new dishes or even some of the old familiar dishes done well.
I have written this page to share some of my good experiences: Places I’ve been at, eaten at, and will be back ! As a former restaurant owner, I know what it’s like to work long hours, creating menus to please my customers and enjoying the satisfaction of a job well done.
You will find their addresses listed by states, meal time I have eaten, and a note or two.
Next time you travel, take the time to look them up, enjoy something different. Good people doing a great job !!

Remember, everyone has a bad day, every once and a while, and so do restaurants. That said, I will not make any negative comments about any restaurant, deserved or not. If I visit a restaurant and have a bad experience or poor service, I’ll give them a second chance if it's possible to return. My dissatisfaction will be to not list them.

I told the owner that it had to be one of the best subs I have ever eaten.

I called in an order a couple days later, (we were at the hospital awaiting a new grandson) I ordered a 20" peperoni and asked them to cut it into sixteen slices, because we had small children eating with us.
They had to fold the pizza to fit it in the 20" box. I opened that pizza and it was gone, I mean gone in seconds. I should have ordered two!!

I walk in about 6:30AM one morning and order a meal and dine in. They had a pill of bacon, sausage, smoked sausage and biscuits. I thought to myself they look like they are planning for a busy day.While I was eating the door never stopped. Person after person coming in and getting a breakfast to go.
Food was great!
If you are looking for a fancy building and decor, that's not them, but the food is great, ask any local!

I found the place by accident, I was looking a new truck and drove by it on the way to the used car dealer a few miles down the road. I didn't even know it was restaurant when I went by, I thought it was a auto garage with alot of car around it. About an hour later, I was heading back into Greenville, NC and as I approached the garage, I saw 3 ladies waiting to cross the road and alot of cars. It got my curiosity up, what were these ladies heading too, out in this area. I turned around and saw the fades sign, B's. It was lunch time and I had to check it out. I walked up to an old screen door and had to stand in line for about 20 minutes. Looking around the others in line trying to read the menu to know what they were serving. I got a BBQ pork plate with slaw, fries, corn sticks, and sweeten tea. WOW what a meal.

Well we found a gem, the "Switzerland Cafe" The cafe is located just off the "Blue Ridge Parkway" at Milepost 334 and right in the heart of Little Switzerland across from the town post office. They are open from mid April to Oct 31 yearly. So you better head over there before they close for the season.
I enjoyed a BBQ pork plate with baked beans and slaw, Debbie had a chicken salad sandwich with dried apricots, cranberries and almonds.

Debbie and I ate on a Saturday evening in early August. There were alot of people enjoying the park, children playing and people enjoying the porch swings along the waterfront.
Debbie had a smoked chicken quesadilla with fresh pinco de gallo and guacamole. I hade their daily special, braised ox-tails over creamy polenta. Great meal. Both of us commented during the meal that we need to make a day trip back here and bring another couple with us.

My wife and I happened upon this place one Sat. when we were out enjoying a little getaway.
We had lunch. What a meal! We ordered 2 different sandwiches and shared them. Folk's, let me tell you something, this was by far the best sandwich and sides, I have had in a long time. The chef(owner) prepares the food with such flavor. The plate presentation was outstanding. We stopped and talked to the chef for a few minutes and thanked him for the great job. We went to an antique shop a couple stores down the street after lunch. We were talking with the owner and she said if it wasn't for Junipers, she would not be there, they are what draws the customers to this little farming community.

We stopped for breakfast about 8:00, the place was almost full, as a table left, more customers were coming in.
I had eggs, sausage and rye toast (Love my rye toast)
My wife had French toast, on homemade bread.

My wife and I tried the Monday special Pot roast, soup, salad, and a small hot fudge sundae. When the brought us our Pot roast, Wow what a beautiful plate and the flavor was awesome.
It was a Monday night in Oct., about 7:30 and the parking lot was full. Very popular place for the locals.
